  • Firstly, pour sand into the aquarium
  • Then prepare saltwater by mixing the amount of salt into the container until the gravity measures 1.025.
  • Then carefully fill the aquarium with this saltwater.
  • Gently rinse the live rocks with this saltwater in the bucket so that all the organic debris and hitchhikers will be removed and then place them in the tank
  • Install the aquarium equipment as per the instructions given by the manufacturer. You can then run the water filtration system and the protein skimmer so that there is a constant movement of water. However, at this time make sure that you are off the lighting system so that during the cycling period there is no further growth of algae.
  • After that for 4 weeks, you need to make a 50% water change every week so that your live rock is cured. During this time, you can remove any organic debris if present and also check for ammonia and nitrite levels which needs to be zero.
  • You can then add all your first inhabitants, first corals, Aquacultured corals, fish and invertebrates.

Maintaining corals

There are certain things to look out for while you are maintaining corals:

  • It is very important to set up the corals in such a way that they get the right kind of light. you have to select marine tubes that are suitable for tanks like Marine blue, marine white and Fiji blue which will help them grow better
  • Corals grow well if they have the right kind of water quality to survive. Hence it is important to maintain the right PH balance when it comes to their growth and reproduction.
  • The positioning of the corals is also of utmost importance for their survival. They need to be under the proper light which needs to penetrate through them.
  • Also, when you add some new organisms to the tank, you need to make sure that they do not affect corals or vice versa.
